ir. Jo Wim Christiaens

Jo Christiaens is a MSc in Bio-engineering, who graduated in 2019 from the Free University of Brussels (VUB). In 2019 he started a joint PhD under the supervision of prof. Wim De Malsche (VUB) in collaboration with the University of Twente (UTwente) and co-promoter prof. Han Gardeniers. His PhD research focusses on the design of silicon chips and implementing them in continuous separation processes. More specifically mesoporous silicon membranes as well as patterned silicon membranes are produced and used to perform liquid-liquid extractions and retention based separations. In addition, more conventional membrane based separation systems are optimized.
