We are happy to share that VUB has awarded 3 UNIVERSITAS scholarships to further intensify our cooperation with CUHAS in Tanzania. It will allow 1 master and 2 PhD students to come to Belgium and obtain their degree at VUB.
Together with the School of Public Health of Prof. Humphrey Mazigo of the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS) in Mwanza, Tanzania, the µFlow Cell is developing a new diagnostic device to detect and monitor soil transmitted helminth (STH) infections, one of the Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) targeted by WHO. The new tool allows single image quantification of parasite eggs in stool (SIMPAQ).
UNIVERSITAS is a scholarship program that aims at strengthening existing cooperations between VUB and partners in the Global South. Consequently, the UNIVERSITAS scholarships will, as part of the internationalisation policy of VUB, contribute to the realisation of the SDGs.
