dr. Quentin Galand
Biography
Quentin is a post-doctoral scientist working in the µFlow Cell at the VUB. He studied Chemical Engineering at Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and obtained his master degree in 2005. Between 2006 and 2012, he worked at the Microgravity Research Center (MRC) of ULB on the DCMIX research program, investigating diffusive properties in liquid systems through experiments performed abord the International Space Station, and obtained a PhD in 2012. He continued his research at MRC until 2019, focusing on the development of optical systems and studying heat and mass transfer in complex systems. In 2019 he joined the µFlow Cell of VUB and developed a 3D particle tracking microscope for microfluidic applications. In 2021, he joined the Structural Biology Brussels research group of VUB and studies liquid-liquid phase separation mechanisms in protein-based systems and prepares the COLIS experiment that will be uploaded to the Space Station very soon.
