dr. ir. Eveline Peeters
Biography
Eveline Peeters has a PhD in Bioengineering Sciences and is Associate Professor in the Research Group of Microbiology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Her research focuses on molecular and synthetic microbiology, with a particular interest in the development of microbial cell factories for manufacturing of chemicals and materials in the context of a biobased economy. This interest has led her team to explore diverse research ideas, ranging from the use of archaea and extremophiles in bioconversion to bioplastic-producing microbes and mycelium-based materials. Throughout the different research lines, there is a strong focus on the development and use of synthetic biology approaches. The research team is currently transitioning towards higher-TRL R&D, valorization and collaboration with the industry and to this end, they are supported by the MicroFlow Cell.
