
Lisa Marie Benko
Biography
Lisa Marie Benko graduated as a bio-engineer in chemistry and bioprocess technology in 2023 from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium. She is a teaching assistant, supporting courses including Environmental Technology, Mechanical and Thermal Unit Operations, Unit Operations and the Integrated Project in Process Technology.
She began her PhD in 2023 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. ir. Wim De Malsche at the µFlow Cell. Her research focuses on the microfluidic manipulation and motility characterisation of sperm cells, cable bacteria, and other microorganisms. This includes the selection of motile versus immotile sperm cells using microfluidic techniques and the isolation of cable bacteria from sediment to enable further investigation.
